[livejournal.com profile] paian has posted the first part 'of a longer thing', For now (SG-1, J/D). 8,000 words later, I'm willing to bare her children and bring her coffee in bed if it will make her write faster.
[livejournal.com profile] kres is posting now and then, bite-sized passages from the latest story she is writing (SG-1, probably J/D only). I think she can teach Ba'al a thing or two in torture tactics.
[livejournal.com profile] icarusancalion has a 3,300-word J/D story ready plus a J/D PWP that she sent off to betas 15 days ago. I know she's had computer problems lately but... Have mercy woman, post them already, I'm dying here! *bounces*
[livejournal.com profile] the_emu is due for the third post of her awesome nine-parter Suspicion (SW, Q/O, O/others), any minute now. If she knows what's good for her that is.

It's going to be a long summer, I can tell.

eta: Icarus' 3,300-word story was for a 'zine. Oops.

I don't know if it's a Greek thing only or a universal one, but we have this saying that the first thing you do in New Year's Day, is what you'll do all year long. This year, I decided not to leave it to chance but do something I really want to follow me around during 2005.
So, after Dad threw the main lightswitch and back up again without *gulp* frying my 'puters and we --as in me, Ma, Da and Bro-- hugged and kissed and wished each other a great new year, instead of opening my presents, I pulled up and read two SG-1 stories, one new, one old, both from my all-time favorite author: 'Twenty-Nine' (I virtually tied my hands behind my back to keep me from reading it when she posted it) and 'Discovery'. It's five hours, a desk-chair cushion, a panty hose, one Spiderman/one Darth Tyranus action figures and two large pieces of bun later and I've read more beautiful stories from [livejournal.com profile] kres and [livejournal.com profile] troyswann and [livejournal.com profile] suelac and [livejournal.com profile] sef1029 and [livejournal.com profile] katie_m and [livejournal.com profile] icarusancalion and other fabulous writers who I hope won't mind that my first choice was [livejournal.com profile] destina. ;) Unexpected bonus; writing a 94-word paragraph from General!Jack's POV that I didn't know was there, until it poured out of me like rain waiting weeks under my skin for the right moment to drip from my fingertips...
Forgive the mush; I'm still affected by the sight of a double rainbow, the last thing I saw out of my window for 2004. =)

So. It looks like I'm going to spend 2005 reading magnificent new stories from D and writing mediocre drabbles. =)

Who needs new-year resolutions when there is fandom? =D

Happy, Creative New Year everyone! =)

I've lost count of how many handrolleds I've had and my room is dark with smoke but that's not why my throat is hoarse and my eyes sting. Normally, I don't read death stories, not because the subject disturbs me but because it takes one hell of a storyteller to get it right. Last time I cried so hard reading a story was for [livejournal.com profile] destina's 'Unmade' --which you should read too if you haven't already.

I pity those who don't read deathfics on principal, they miss one of the best stories written in this fandom: Mary Jane's 'Willemakee'.

Read it and weep. Literally.
queenofstars: (jack: thank you god)
I don't normally rec stories, I leave it to the more eloquent among us who can nail down what was that made me cry or sqeee! with delight over reading them. But man! I peed my panties last night reading [livejournal.com profile] greensilver's Drunken alien-Vegas wedding pic-fic! Daniel's expression when he gave his answer and the last punchline? H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! Even if you are on dial-up, go read it, it's totally worth the download. =)
Damn, there should be more pic-fics in this fandom. Yeah!

queenofstars: (davis: pookie love!)
Waiting for lunch to arrive, reading June from Dr D.J.'s diary, marking quotes for icons (WHAT obsessive behavior?), giggling at Jack trying NOT to kill Major Pookie.

Yo [livejournal.com profile] slymole! "Gayer than a treeful of monkeys on nitrous oxide": Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman? ::gurgle::
queenofstars: (jack: thank you god)
I have this bad habit: when a piece of fiction is rec'd, I read everything the writer has written too, in the hopes of finding more decent slash. Half the times I find out the hard way why there was only one piece recommended ^___^;;
I'm reading a piece I stumbled upon when I followed such a rec and half-way through I find myself asking "why on earth would anyone write a closer-to-50-than-he'd-like, ex-black-ops USAF Colonel acting like a desperately horny teenager and in a mission on an alien planet of all places for crying out loud?"! And my insomniac brain supplies: "because odds are it was written by a desperately horny teenager?" Gods, my inner Jack really picks the times to make an appearance! ::groans::

Since I broke it last week I haven't to be able to bring back my "no lj at work" rule. Damn, there goes another New-Year resolution down the drain. ::wails::

Mo is writing again!!!
::runs around in circles::

It's a completely new series called 'After the Fall'. It's has nothing to do with previous storylines and it's picking up where the second movie ended. 2 parts were posted in various lists like Logan_Scott, x-movieslash, cyclopsfanfics and x-fiction, but not on her site yet.

I don't have the time to read it! That bitch that calls herself Real Life won't even let me indulge my Stargate addiction these days.
::looks at mailbox and despairs::
Make that 3 parts...
::groans, buries head in hands::
Someone, shoot me, please!

Mo is writing again! Yey!
::runs around in circles some more::
